Hi all,

We've just integrated bbb into our platform (thanks!)

However we have just realised that the invited member is not able to change the presenter roles, although I thought I read somewhere that it is possible to make invited users also have moderator rights - so that they could change presenter roles.
(We are facilitating one to one learning so really hope this is possible!)

Is it possible to do?

Thanks!

Hi Sam,

In BigBlueButton it's not (currently) possible for a moderator to escalate another viewer to have moderator rights.

We've opened an enhancement request for this feature

To understand how we prioritize choosing the features to implement for a release, see

(just checked out iSKILLu -- cool concept).

Regards,... Fred

Hi Fred,

(Thanks for checking iSKILLu out!)

Sorry I think I was a bit unclear previously.
I actually meant having more than one user being a moderator before they join, rather than escalating their privileges during a lesson.
This would enable either person to change around presenter roles I believe.

I think I found in your documentation (http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/dev/api.html#join) that:
"If the moderator password is supplied, he will be given moderator status (and the same for attendee password, etc)"

So I think this will sort our issue?
Sorry my programmer probably should have seen this in the doc.

Thanks!
Sam

You can have as many moderators as you want. You can see this in the main demo page http://demo.bigbluebutton.org/demo/demo1.jsp.

Passing in the moderator password on join will solve your issue.
