New Open-Source plugin for BigBlueButton Streaming

I am delighted to introduce BigBlueButton Streaming - a free, open-source plugin developed to take your virtual classrooms global.

Stream live on YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, or any RTMP server directly from BigBlueButton.

Overcome user limits and teach without boundaries. Super simple installation.

Good morning.
I am trying to install bigbluebutton-streaming on BBB 2.7
  The install.sh bash command returns me:
Error: This script should not be run as root.
Please what should I do?

The plugin works great.  Couple of things.

The install script wants to be run from non root user like ubuntu, checks out the meteor dev components, and compiles a new html5 client

Its also tied to 2.6.10 html5 client the install downloads and applies few changes to client to add context menu for start/stop streaming.

 

So will need to update this right now every time 2.6.x updates.

 

This is prime candidate for 2.7 as a plugin,   some work is being down on this plugin architecture by imdt for coming release on reactions.

 Getting it running for 2.7 should be easy if you merge the html5 client changes and build your own client.

As we shared in a presentation at the BigBlueButton World Summit 2023, we (the core developers) want to add a plug-in architecture to BigBlueButton to make it even easier to extend the functionality like this in the future.

Hello
On BBB 2.7 it tells me it needs to be installed on BBB 2.6.10.
I installed it on BBB 2.6.
Installed but when I log in the live streaming user does not appear.
Pressing the (+), I press Start Streaming, I put the details for Streaming on youtube, I press Start Streaming and a black screen comes up.
What am I doing wrong; Do I have to enable live streaming with some command? If so how?
Sorry, I'm new to IT.

Similarly. The same situation. There is no broadcast. After entering data for broadcasting - a blue screen.

Streaming only works with the 2.6.10 version,  it's not work with the 2.6.11 or upper version.

you can modify the code where ffmpeg is sending the stream.  look here for example

Also some rmtp servers can subscribe to push or pull a stream from another,  this would be more efficient and less work for the bbb server.

We are thrilled to announce that we've successfully updated our BigBlueButton-Streaming service, and it is now compatible with BigBlueButton version 2.7.0-beta.2.

We understand there have been inquiries about the capability of streaming a meeting to multiple RTMP servers. We want to assure you that we've taken note of this and have begun developing this feature.

Additionally, we are addressing another request: to allow more flexibility in the number of streaming containers that can run concurrently on a single BigBlueButton server. As it currently stands, BigBlueButton-Streaming restricts running more than one streaming operation on a single server.

Our proposed solution is to introduce an Environment variable that allows users to define the number of streaming containers they'd like to run on their BigBlueButton server. For instance, if you want to host two or three meetings on your server and wish to run streaming on each, this update will accommodate that.

Please note that the successful operation of multiple streaming containers will depend on the server's capacity.

We appreciate your patience as we work on these improvements and hope they will provide a more flexible and efficient BigBlueButton-Streaming experience.

Hello again
So far, although I have followed the instructions in detail (from the video), still when I press start streaming, it does not proceed, but returns to a black screen.
Same in BBB 2.7
I must be missing something.
If there is any setting please help.
If nothing happens, I'll probably forget about live streaming from my own server.

Nishekh,  would be good to document how to use  pm2, docker logs, and browser console to capture the info you need to debug the edge cases in your issue tracker..    Its working great for me but the average sysadmin deploying may not have ability to debug.

Also, a simple script may be able to capture this info and tar the data for submission to your issue tracker.

The secret was in NOPASSWD: ALL
If you want the instructions you gave me include them in the README.
One more question: When BBB is upgraded, will Live Streaming still work? Now however if I update BBB to version 2.7.0-beta.3 the streaming stops working, and it can't be installed because it requires 2.7.0-beta.2. Are you planning to make it work once it's installed, still work in subsequent BBB upgrades?
However, the app now works perfectly!!!
Thank you once again. I'll be looking forward to her development so that she works in future versions of BBB as well.
