Installed html5 client, it's working. When user chooses listen only - it's ok. When I try to enable mic as a user on android device, nothing happens - only this message: "Connecting to the audio call...' at the top. And button 'Join Microphone'. When I press it, nothing happens also.

I checked ports: TCP ports 80, 1935, 9123 are accessible, UDP ports 16384 - 32768 are accessible. Checked freeswitch but didn't find smth strange in settings. In forum also didn't find any mention of suh problem. Hope anybody will give me idea what to check else.

Hey Ed,

Two questions:
1) Are you using the html5 client in Chrome on your Android device?
2) Are you using an https connection?
Chrome in Android, just like in desktops needs https to allow microphone access. This was introduced a few months ago.

Regards,
Anton

Anton, thanks for a quick reply.
1. Yes, it's html5 client in Chrome on my Android device
2. No, http. I didn't find notes about https as an obligatory rule for html5 in it's section of FAQ. Where can I read more on it?
If I don't have https, Chrome won't work correctly with webrtc or even with flash?

Hey Ed,

As of Chrome 47 http connections are not allowed access to the microphone (for WebRTC. It seems for Flash audio input there's no need of https. however, the HTML5 client relies on WebRTC solely). Linking to one of the earlier discussions: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/bigbluebutton-dev/b6rBrDi38qI/discussion

With Firefox on Android you should still be able to share microphone via http.

Anton
