Hello,

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but it could be put in as an enhancement bug possibly?

Basically, when I upload a document and I expand it to the width of the viewing module, then there will often times be a need to scroll up and down through that slide of the document.  And if I'm the presenter and I have not pulled up the annotation tools, then I am able to scroll up and down through that slide of the document very easily.

However, if the annotation tools are turned on, then I no longer can do that.  Which means that in order to scroll down, I have to turn off the annotation tools and then scroll and then turn the annotation tools back on.

It's a bit tedious and so I thought I would mention it.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before!

Best,
Neeraj

HI Neeraj,

Good suggestion.  Added an enhancement request to track effort on it

We're getting closer to release of 0.81-beta, so it's not likely we'll implement it for this release, but we'll take a look into seeing if it's possible and how much effort it would require.

Regards,... Fred

Thanks for the response Fred. Hopefully it's not too much work to fix.

Also, my non-profit hopes to move to BBB soon and use it as our base for tutoring.  And if you wanted us to do some sort of market study on our one-on-one teaching using BBB, we would be more than happy to do so.  I know you did work a school district, I believe, in Illinois by piloting the html5 application ipads.  We wouldn't have that opportunity, but we could just simply let you know how everything works out with the platform as it pertains to the one-on-one interaction between tutor and student.

Thanks again!

Great!

You don't need to do anything formal ... feel free to post your feedback as you receive it.  We welcome *all* feedback.

Hey Fred,

I noticed your proposed solution was to make it so the user would hold down control to scroll.  Why not add a scrollbar to the viewing module? Does that introduce other  complications/is not as easy of of a solution?

Thanks!

The annotation bar functionality has actually be drastically changed in 0.81. There's no longer a show/hide button, instead when you mouse over the presentation area it shows the toolbar and then when you mouse out it hides. The toolbar was also moved to be within the presentation window and no longer covers the chat module. If you were to put scroll bars in you would run into the issue of not being able to use the vertical scroll because the whiteboard toolbar would cover it.

Hi Nekapoor,

Our preference is to not show scroll bars as they clutter the screen.  BigBlueButton's UI looks much cleaner without them.

We prefer the approach of using a modifier key to drag the view around the presentation.

Hey Chad,

So it seems like the 0.81 implementation is very different. So how is the handling of the scrolling if a pdf requires vertical scroll.  As mentioned above, in 0.8 as long as the annotation toolbar isn't open, then you can click and drag the document.  But if it appears whenever the mouse is moved over the presentation module, how does scrolling work in 0.81? Or is this just an enhancement that Fred and the group are going to have to work on and you can't currently scroll?

Thanks!

There's a new button on the whiteboard toolbar that sets your cursor to drag mode. When you select that you can pan through the document. That button is also selected by default.

I've attached a screenshot that shows the PresentationWindow on a build of the master branch.

Hey thanks for the response Chad. One more, unrelated question. This one is more stylistically.

So in that bottom darker gray frame with the upload button, the left and right buttons, etc. If that whole frame is not part of the presentation module and is just housing buttons, why not make the buttons larger so they're easier to click on?

Any thoughts?

Those buttons are actually bigger then they appear in my screenshot, I scaled the image down before uploading. I believe the buttons are roughly the same size in 0.81 as they are 0.8.
