Hello,

I'm looking to install a Turn server on a Digital Ocean droplet.  Would I be able to get away with a 5$/ month plan from digital ocean?
- 1GB/ 1CPU
- 25GB SSD Disk
- 1000GB Transfer
Maybe I can start with the lowest plan and then upgrade as required?

Also, how do I know if I really need this?  How will I know if someone's accessibility challenges can be solved with a Turn server?

The TURN server doesn't need much. It's mostly just a pass-through so those specs should be fine.

Knowing if you need it is difficult. Theoretically you should never need a TURN server with a properly configured BBB server, but it's a safety net for when there's some restriction in the client's network that stops the normal avenues from working. It's mostly just a backup in case it's needed when all other options fail.

There's one particular case where a TURN server might help: When the
client is *completely unable* to send or receive UDP network packets
(for example, due to a restrictive firewall).

In this situation, you can set up a TURN server that supports TCP
connections - it will then relay the packets to BigBlueButton over UDP.
