Downloading Recordings

Is it possible to download a recording from Greenlight 3? Is the new format now MP4?

You will need to install bbb-playback-video and enable it in bigbluebutton.yml,  then you will see this for new recordings in GL v3

bbb-install only installs the presentation by default.

 

You can run bbb-record –rebuild on older 2.6 recordings to get video for these.

Not sure the steps to enable new video format are in the new 2.6 docs.   This works for me.

 

apt install bbb-playback-video

replace steps  in /usr/local/bigbluebutton/core/scripts/bigbluebutton.yml

steps:

  archive: 'sanity'

  sanity: 'captions'

  captions:

    - 'process:presentation'

    - 'process:video'

  'process:presentation': 'publish:presentation'

  'process:video': 'publish:video'

 

systemctl restart bbb-rap-resque-worker.service nginx

 

use bbb-record –rebuild on any existing recordings

Hi, I have followed your configuration but if I click in the new "video" format on Greenlight I see only the video of the webcam and not the video of the entire recording.
How can I permit the download of the presentation in mp4 video format?

If it is not

 

Try

 

>sudo apt install  bbb-presentation-video and do a bbb-conf –restart and see if they appear in new meetings.

I have experienced the same thing.   no matter what combination of suggestions made and tried I could only ever get the video and audio in the mp4 file, never the presentation.

It would be great if the documentation on this could be consolidated, checked and improved with the all correct steps to enable a complete MP4 video file.

There is a BASH script you can run that will set the configuration for generating a single .mp4 on yourserver.

Yes I have used that script but sometimes happens that the screenshare is not inside the video, and when is not in the video is not in the presentation too! Really strange. When this happens I need to reboot the BBB node.

Any users have the same problem?

I have absolutely the same issue.

According to the document https://docs.bigbluebutton.org/administration/customize#install-additional-recording-processing-formats, I enabled the single mp4 file generation for the recording of presentation by changing /usr/local/bigbluebutton/core/scripts/bigbluebutton.yml. This worked very well.

Then I moved recordings to a different partition according to the document https://docs.bigbluebutton.org/administration/customize#move-recordings-to-a-different-partition, but this didn't seem to work (generated mp4 video file contains only webcams, but presentation). I also tried moving /var/bigbluebutton/ back, but no luck.

look in directory above for your meeting id...   the bbb-presentation-video python script the handles creating the whiteboard/presentation into the mp4 runs against the events.xml

these logs may show some errors for path name or permissions from moving them to new partitions.

I checked process-file. A lot of information but just INFO and DEBUG records, no errors or warnings. And no bbb-presentation-video record as well.

What happens if you switch to the next slide and then try to record? I think the default presentation isn't recorded only if it stays on the first slide.. I might be mistaken though

Default presentation contains only one slide, so I can't switch to another one.
