Video Lag on C922 Pro 1080p Webcam

Hello, thanks for this great software, we use BBB as our webinar platform. 

We would like to take your advice on the following issue.

We recently bought a Logitech C922 pro 1080p webcam for to use with BBB. But when we connect to the broadcast with this camera, we experience a very high amount of video delay (3-4 seconds). We tried all of the suggestions below, but still could not fix it.

Could you help us with this problem, we will be appreciated. We tested the camera on  DEMO SERVER and the result is the same. Is problem can be the 1080p?

Server Details: 8 GB MEMORY / 4 vCPUs / DIGITALOCEAN

By the way there isn't any problem with the simultaneous webcams, we test it with 25 webcam. The problem was only moderators with 1080p webcam.

ALSO WE HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE RATES ON THAT FILES - according to the recommendations

ON PROFILES FILE: WE TRY TO ADD 1920X1080 as resolution but it didnt work

Hi,

To compare, are you able to connect with a built in webcam and see normal delay (compared with the C922 Pro 1080p).  

If the built-in webcam looks good, try connecting with the highest possible quality (you can change the settings on the join webcam dialog).  Any difference?

We're not sure why the C922 Pro 1080p has such delay, but the above will help narrow down if it's all webcams on your computer or just this one.

Hello, We have checked again with built in Facetime Camera (848x480) with highest quality , there wasn't any delay on stream. 

According to your previous screenshot, you use Logitech C170 webcam, what are your bitrates for this webcam, I mean on settings.yml. 

Maybe this can solve the problem, what do you think?

I have a logitech c920 and had a very similar problem. I don't know if this will help, but I unplugged the camera and replugged it in and I've had no problems since.

I am planning to buy logitech c922 too and I don't know if there is a problem with this webcamera

I have the same problem.

I recommend to avoid buying this webcam, even it is listed at https://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ as a full supported one by UVC (Linux USB Video Class device driver)

Would certainly want to know why as it seems that this is directly related to the c922 & c920 cameras, both rated as one of the best online steaming devices. We are looking to procure over 30 of them currently but would want to understand the issue here first.

If this problem exists also on browser-clients, driven by other OS (Windows, MacOS. I‘m using Ubuntu Mate 16), then I JUST guess, the source of problem is NOT at BBB – side.

Sakis: What is the OS of your browser-client, the webcam attached to?

If this problem exsits on all major OSs for desktop computers, then I guess, the source of problem has to be located at device-side.

Since this webcam is a popular, non-expensive and good one (1), it makes sense to solve this problem in a well-prepared technical dialog with the device-vendor. (by a community membr, who knows enough about the related low-level materials within BBB)

(1) The integrated mic has good quality and more importance, under Linux, it‘ Gain-level can be set by enduser, which sometimes solve problem with low-quality of audio communications.

As I wrote I don't own the camera but I want to buy one (maybe 2)

So there is indeed a problem with these cameras,

I don't know if there is a problem with 930 too, since it is a good alternative to c920/c922

I am planning to use this cam with windows and now I cannot find something similar.

If it is cameras' issue maybe it has to do with hardware H.264 video compression that camera supports.
