Our BBB version is 2.2 RC-5. We are getting complaints from users getting kicked out of meetings randomly. Could you direct us in the right direction, what might be causing it, which logs to check to look into it?
We did not have this issue when we were on an older version of 2.2, it suddenly started. Also, I don't think it started right after we upgraded to RC 5.
Please help.
Thanks.

Also, no errors in bbb-conf -check.

Hi,

We're interested to dig deeper on this ... are the users getting immediately removed from the session and seeing

"You have been removed from the conference"

Or are they seeing a blue banner at the top

"Disconnected.  Trying to reconnect in x seconds"

Or are they getting a different error message?

Is it the same users (or group of users)? Are you able to reproduce it on your end?  Do you have a user that is encountering the problem frequently and could do a bit of testing with them -- such as login to your server and, in another browser window, login to https://demo.bigbluebutton.org/ -- does the user get disconnected from both servers at the same time or only one server?

Regards,... Fred

Another option is if their client is changing to a plain blue screen which means that it's crashing somewhere. Capturing the browser logs is the best way to help and resolve those issues.

I have been trying to replicate the issue on my end but am unable to. The users say they are not automatically reconnected, they need to do it manually if this happens. They are kicked to the page where the list of meetings is displayed (which is also our end meeting url btw).
I had previously setup kick inactive users in bigbluebutton.properties, but had turned it back to default soon after. Just to make sure it is not related, I created a meeting from my end and left it ON for about 2 hours and minimized the window, but it did not disconnect or kick me out.
I am still to get more details such as browser logs from users who face this, while also trying to replicate it on my end.
Will update once I have more information.

Thanks for the effort -- looking forward to hearing whatever you discover.

I think the users that have poor connections are facing this issue. One other issue we faced is audio getting disconnected frequently. In some cases, it does nothing when you try to join/leave audio, users click 2-3 times on the button and then when they get a response, they hear the announcement "You are now muted" twice/thrice at the same time.
Is there any setting to automatically choose poor quality audio/video when the connection is slow?

The audio is always going to use 50kbits up and down. The default quality for the webcams can be changed in settings.yml, but we don't do any downscaling on the streams (lots of CPU load) so whatever quality the person sharing selects is what must be downloaded.

Hi,
It happened to us once last week in a BBB RC-5 server.  All the users including the room owner were disconnected with the message:  "You have been removed from the conference".
We were 4 people connected from different places all in Guatemala, and the four of us experienced the disconnection at the same time, and all needed to enter again to to the room from the Greenlight frontend page.  It happened when the meeting was about 1.5 hours running.
I will try to reproduce this again and let you know what we can see or found.
Regards,
German Acevedo

Hi Fred
On Sunday, this week, I changed the settings:
# User inactivity audit timer interval.
userInactivityInspectTimerInMinutes = 60
On Monday morning, I received complaints from teachers about disconnections, occasionally.
On Monday night I changed back to 0
And since then there have been no disconnections.
i think thers a bug in the User inactivity mechanism.

Regards
jossef

I have the same problem.
I think it occurs after about 1.5 - 2 hours.

Yesterday I updated to the latest version of bbb 2.2.5.
I created a meeting and I shared my web camera to test it.  After exactly 2 hours I saw the message: This session has ended. You will be forwarded back to the home screen.

I had the same problem with versions 2.2.4, 2.2.3 and I think with 2.2.2

In other cases (3) it occurred after about 1.5 hour. In these cases I was sharing my desktop (not camera).
The message was: You have been removed from the conference. You will be forwarded back to the home screen. or This session has ended. You will be forwarded back to the home screen.
I think that if it occurs, it will be after 1.5-2 hours and it doesn't affect all users. It is like a timer. Some users are kicked, some others no. I couldn't find a correlation
Same complaints from other users . Not many but it is a problem.

I use moodle with the latest bbb plugin and I haven't changed anything.
