Hello,

I installed BBB from VM image (http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/
wiki/BigBlueButtonVM) and it's up and running.

When I'm on my OpenSuSE 11.4 (64 bit) desktop, I can connect to BBB,
log in and use it, however desktop sharing doesn't work. It does open
a small window and asks whether I want to share full screen or region,
but after choosing either option nothing happens - the little window
remains 'empty', the button changes to 'Close', but is grayed-out.

After about 3 minutes the 'Close' button is enabled, but the windows
is still empty and other users can't see my desktop.

If I use a MS Windows desktop machine, it all works pretty well.

I assume this is some Java problem, maybe 64-bit related
(unfortunately, I have no 32-bit desktops available).

Some more (hopefully) relevant info about my machine:

- openSUSE 11.4 (x86_64)
- java-1_6_0-sun-1.6.0.u26-0.2.1.x86_64

Hi Danilo,

Can you confirm that you can run Java applets on your browser. Can
you try this test link and let us know if it works.

http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

It might be that your browser is not able to lunch Java applets, which
would prevent desktop sharing from working.

Regards,... Fred

Enviado,

Your not giving us much to go on :-)

Which BigBlueButton server are you using (yours or a public server)?
Can you try

http://demo.bigbluebutton.org/

Does audio work for other applications? What browser and OS are you using?

I tried Firefox and Chrome with same results.

However, the link you posted works in both browsers, but it takes 3 minutes before it really does anything (the animated Java logo appears immediately and then 'rotates' for about 3 minutes). After that it shows 'Your java is working':

I'm sure that 3 minute delay has nothing to do with BBB, but after that I don't know whether the applet is running very slow or not running at all...

Hi Evviado,

I'll be on the demo server for the next 30 minutes if you can login
and try it now; otherwise, e-mail me directly and we'll setup a time
to test the audio with you.

Can you post follow-up messages to

http://groups.google.com/group/bigbluebutton-users/topics?gvc=2

This group has over 1000 users now and is targeted for development of
BigBlueButton. The above group bigbluebutton-users is better suited
for end-user problems.
