Hi everyone

i gonna try to change the red5 server to a wowza server; someone here
have a solid argument to stop this attempt? well this is a crazy idea
but in theory if change red5 with wowza we can publish to a lot of
protocols (ipod, ipad, WP7, etc)

thanks by advices and directions, grettings

Hi Bicho,

What do you think about instead of change in this way the BigBlueButton architecture, create a bridge between red5 and wowza?
Also, do you plan to develop it in a public repo? We are interested on this idea and would like to follow with your progress.

Regards,

Hi felipe,

well i think the fastesr way is make a bridge between red5 and wowza,
in a first step redirect my video service to my wowza server instead
of red5 and "see what happend" later start to move other services like
the shared desktop to wowza, but i think something is forgetting
something, if i have results(goods) publish the way to connect red5
and wowza

Hi Bicho and Felipe,

I want to add something related to this topic...
Sometime ago, I was thinking in how to implement a html5 client for bigbluebutton, and well obviously, use websockets with any server like node.js or cramp, and well, definitely the way to go for communicate with the bigbluebutton server is by creating a bridge probably using the pubsub implementation... In fact, we have talked about it but there aren't any public document or formal discussion yet..

But right now, (I'm going to take some Fred's words)  we want to make bigbluebutton 0.8, a very solid solid release, after this we want to see how to improve the architecture, API, etc...

As felipe, I'm also interested in know how you will progress with this attempt :)

Well, he said it doesn't work "for some unknown reason", that means, it will not work out of the box, but it should work eventually because all the protocols are standard. Don't you agree?
Is there any other stream server just like wowza but opensource?

There's more you need to do because BBB doesn't use Red5 only for
streaming. It also uses Remote calls and
SharedObject for synching. You'll have to create an "app" for that in
Wowza. I don't know what's required exactly as
I haven't played around with Wowza.

felipe, i agree protocols are standar but today is not supported
eventually a republish maybe can be a option, a stream server
opensource only red5 i know.

devices.

Well so many technologies so many ways

thanks by advices

interested to follow the progress.
Markos related to HTML5, here at Carleton U,we experimented with
webbit( A Java event based WebSocket and HTTP server) to port some
functionality of BBB such as slides and voice.Webbit is robost and
