Delete and Clear recordings from bbb server

Hi All,

I’m working on maintaining our BigBlueButton (BBB) server and need to clear up some storage. Is there a way to delete all recordings and their raw files from the BBB server created before January 1, 2024, in one go?

Ideally, I’m looking for a command or script that can automate this process rather than manually deleting each recording. If you could point me to a resource or provide a script, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

yes, "there's a script for that". It's mentioned in the docs.

You can configure some settings in said script or you can write your own by taking a look.
Be aware though, that deleting the contents of the /var/bigbluebutton/recording/raw will NOT let you process a recording in the future through the bbb-record --build-all command.

  To efficiently clear storage on your BigBlueButton (BBB) server by deleting all recordings and their raw files created before January 1, 2024, you can use the bbb-record command-line tool. This tool allows you to manage recordings directly from the terminal.

I need to clean up the BBB server by deleting all recordings and their raw files created before January 1, 2024, in one go. Does the /bigbluebutton/api/deleteRecordings endpoint remove both the recordings and their raw files, or does it only delete the recordings?

Is there a script or method I can use to clear all files related to recordings up to the given date?
