Can someone help me to understand on how to download or covert bbb recordings to mp4 or how to make it available for our users to download the video.

Hi Mithun,
we transcode the recordings in the post publishing phase, using a custom post_publish.rb script; We do this with ffmpeg.

Hi Muthin,

From the BigBlueButton project, the feature to create a single video file still an open issue.

We don't have any date for the implementation of this feature at the moment.  At the moment we (the core developers) are pretty focused on finishing BigBlueButton 2.2-beta.

Regards,... Fred

You can download the webcams video in webm format by right clicking and selection the option download video as.

Then combine the webcam video to the presentation slides on your favorite video editor.

You'll need to produce your video by adding the images form your presentation on a video editor, syncing them, to the video and rendering the project.

I don't know a way of downloading a video file from the recordings folder. Each presentation is a sequence of images, someone could make a script to render it into a video so you could sync to the webcams video.

Until then the best you can add the slides manually.

Hi everyone.

Another way to get an mp4 file is capturing the desktop with SimpleScreenRecorder (linux - or any other app on any other OS) for instance, at the same time that the conference is tanking place. Or later, playing back the recording, as well.

Hello all,

the problem with extracting single video file from bbb recording would be when the presenters are using multiple video sources i.e. sharing desktop and cameras. I have bee thinking of implementing something about it as postscript and even did a little research. However there is no way to predict when the presenter share the video camera what is the purpose of it. There is no event if the presenter wanted only the video camera to be present on the screen so we could get it with timestamp and resemble the recording so it would be identical. I will probably test a postscript to apply all images to a single file mixing the audio and video sources to a single file where the camera is going to stay right bottom corner or middle center outside of the slides canvas area. Also that would almost definitely require some packets installation (or not) but so far that is where i am with this small project. I plan to share it here after i am ready with it. Again there will be limitations of the output so don't get high hopes.

Regards,
Peter

Hello everyone,

I have implemented a way to export recordings as webm or mp4. You can get details from here:

Don't forget to read "How it will work?" section.
