Change screenshare name on java popup from big blue button?

Morning All,

I was just wondering if anyone know hows to change the name on the attached pop up window that appears when I try and screenshare in Chrome?, I am also trying to figure out how to get it to work as it wont launch?

Hi Paul,

The certificate for our Java screen sharing application has just expired.  Sorry for the inconvenience.  We're in the process now of re-signing the application with a new certificate.  We should have the new packages available in a few hours.

In the meantime, you can run the following BASH script on your BigBlueButton server and it will update the corresponding JAR files with the updated versions that are going to be forthcoming in the new packages.

#!/bin/bash

cd /tmp

rm -rf lib

rm -rf lib.tar.gz

wget http://test-install.blindsidenetworks.com/lib.tar.gz

tar xvfz lib.tar.gz

sudo mv /usr/share/red5/webapps/screenshare/lib /usr/share/red5/webapps/screenshare/lib-bak

sudo mv lib /usr/share/red5/webapps/screenshare/

Hi!

Paul, did it work for you?

I tried it on my installation and got different error saying something about certificates being different. I suspect that not all libraries got updated signatures. (file names ending with *-svc2.jar)

I changed it and got another error like you and when I clicked ok to proceed it just disappeared and did not start the screen sharing...

Slight issue is that it shows in the jav now as Big Blue Button and when you are branding it for a client that is not good... any ideas?

You can in the meantime take these jars (NOT the unsigned) and drop them into /usr/share/red5/webapps/screenshare/lib

For branding, you need to sign the jar with your certificate as the cert has BBB in it.

We've updated the packages for BigBlueButton 2.0-beta with the new signed jars.  You can update with

  sudo apt-get update

  sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

We'll have updates to the BigBlueButton 1.1 packages out soon (and you can update using the above two steps).

We'll post an update when the 1.1 packages are updated.

Hi everyone,

So I am now confused as to which files to use?,

I ran Fred's bash script earlier today, but now people are saying to download files manually from different locations?

Fred/Joshua - can you please confirm which is the best way to sort this ?, I did ask about doing the update as dont wont to loose my customisations to BBB

I believe Richard's are more up to date than the one Fred referenced. Richard is pointing to the location in Github.

As for the question about loosing customizations on upgrade, it depends on what kind of customization you've done. An attempt is made to carry over as much as possible, but if you've made changes to the client I would suggest backing them up somewhere before upgrade in case you need to restore them later.

Hi everyone,

We've updated the bbb-apps-screenshare package for BigBlueButton 1.1. 

  bbb-apps-screenshare_1.1.0-44_amd64.deb

To update your BigBlueButton server with the newer version, do

  sudo apt-get update

  sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

  sudo bbb-conf --restart

Try the above and let us know if you are able to screen share again.
