Hello Everyone.

I am working with Bigbluebutton configuration with Moodle through API. Everything is Working perfectly but after the Meeting is over, recorded sessions takes several hours sometimes it takes almost 24 hours to appear in the playback session. My question is, why this takes so many hours to appear in the Playback as it should appear immediately after the meeting is over. Is there any way to make it appear immediately after meeting. Any help would be appreciable.

Hi Avnish,

> My question is, why this takes so many hours to appear in the Playback as it should appear immediately after the meeting is over.

The playback appears when the processing is finished.  If you have a 3 hour session with webcams, they need to be processed into a composite video file and that takes time.

There are three steps to a recording: archive, process, and publish.

Currently, the processing of recordings is sequential with all pending processing steps done first.  If you have two 3 hour sessions, both will process first, then both will publish.

Processing takes the longest, so this is probably why you are not seeing the published recordings for a while.

For more information on how recordings work, see

We haven't done any working on the processing steps for the 1.1-dev cycle (the closed captioning and breakout rooms keeps us busy enough).  To understand how we prioritize features for each release, see

Hello Fred, Thanks for your precious reply,

I just want to confirm that why our recorded sessions takes almost 3 days to appear sometimes more. Can we make this process faster by increasing server configuration if possible then please guide me how much should i increase it. This problem is very much concern for us that this process sometimes takes 4 days to show recorded sessions. Please help me how do i restrict it to 8 to 10 hours at least. Thanks in advance.

Hi Avnish,

If the recordings do publish, we can confirm this is the underlying issue.  If you use the command

  bbb-record --watch

you can watch the record and playback scripts process the outstanding recordings (the process all recordings first, then publish all processed recordings).  We want to make this faster too.  We have an open enhancement request to make the processing of recordings more parallel, see

However, this enhancement is not planned for the BigBlueButton 1.1 development cycle (our current focus).  To see what we are working on in 1.1-dev,

We can't do everything in each release (or we would never finish a release).  To understand how we prioritize features for each release, see

Hello Fred,

I understand your point about the prioritize features. You guys are really doing great jobs but i am in very serious problem of Recordings. Today is the forth day and recordings are still missing. Please suggest me if i can use more powerful processor with more processing power of each core to make Building and publishing process more faster.I can increase the hardware up to any extend. Please suggest me the configuration.

Hi Avnish,

The processing of recordings is CPU intensive (especially with video files), so a faster processor will definitely help.  Just to be sure the recordings are processing, take a look at

  bbb-record --watch

which let's you following the processing of recordings through the stages (archive, process, and publish).  See

The above link gives help on which log files to investigate to look deeper into the workflow.
