Folks,

We've had our 2006 Mini S Convertible for about three years now and moved the odometer from about 17,000 to 28,000 miles.  The only repair and maintenance we've had to address has been a small oil leak that our local shop has been chasing.

I have a business opportunity to drive the Mini to Denver on Monday, leave it at the dealer there (Ralph Schomp) and return for it in a few weeks.  It's not that the car has an immediate need for a fix, but rather, it seems that perhaps it's time that it should see a dealer for some preventive maintenance and a thorough checkup.

So, the questions for this group are:

1.  Do any of you have personal experience with the 30,000-mile maintenance schedule and/or have you seen typical wear items that should be addressed?
2.  Do any of you have personal experiences with Ralph Schomp Mini in Denver and/or a personal contact there within their service department?  I'd love to have a personal connection or specific advocate for the experience.

Thanks in advance!

Tim

Hey Tim,

We've purchased both of our MINIs from Ralph Schomp, and we've also had maintenance done there. Our experiences have been good, especially the service. Unfortunately, I can't remember any names--sorry. But every time we've dealt with Schomp, we've been happy with the treatment we received. (anything is better than the treatment we got at Murray)
As to the service itself, if it's still under warranty, they pretty much check everything, change the necessary fluids/filters and make sure stuff like the brake pads are still good to go.
Hope your trip goes well and your MINI enjoys the "spa treatment". :o)

Hi Mel, Tim, et al:

Craig and I have had the same experience with Ralph Schomp MINI in Littleton, CO as Mel.  We purchased PJ from Rasmussen (which has now moved and changed management) in Portland, but we have Schomp look at and check fluid levels, fob readings, etc. on her every year when we go to MINIs In The Mountains...we have never been to their dealership.  They send their service and parts staff to the show and do this for free for every car at the event and have been great to work with bringing/sending parts, accessories, etc.

Contacts at Schomp are:

Steve, MINI Parts Manager, 303-734-7557
Eric, MINI Service Manager, 303-797-8801
Main switchboard, 303-798-1500

We have had work done on PJ at Loveland MINI as well and were happy with them.  Although we haven't had any work done ourselves, I have hung out with Central Iowa and KC club members and hear MINI of Des Moines and Baron MINI of Kansas City also have very good reputations for taking care of MINI motorers and their cars.

Kathy
