I'm having a lot of troubles using a 3g module with bifferboard, even
using a dedicated power source to power the 3g modem.

Did you have any problem with electromagnetic interference ? I think
this is the problem because if i take away the modem using an USB
extension the problem is reduced.

Thanks

I do not know how you connect the external power source, but I have the
same experience. The allowed current was discussed here on this list too.
3G modems e.g. from Huawei greatly overshot the max allowed current 500mA
for USB. Biffeboard has no current limiting, nor enought capacity to
supply this. When I used USB cable with external UBS hub it worked only
with some of them. You should check the HUB is really not sucking power
from bifferboard. In some hubs - e.g. Dell monitor hub, this was working
stable.
