Hello all.

It seems there is a project on Kickstarer that uses a bifferboard along with a custom network storage software to provide a NAS for your home which also supports cloud storage:

I am amazed at how many people want a bifferboard :-)

Its the other way round, plug renamed to bifferboard. It seems to me that this plug is just a NAS-device, called WANSER-R (Biff has set a link to it on his page, under "buy"). This device just provides network storage. Fine, but bifferboard is much more, a linux computer with GPIO, serial- and i2c-interface, which can do many things, including network storage.

Its the merits of Biff, the original supplier of bifferboard, that WANSER-R became bifferboard, with a new bootloader, fitted linux kernel and many other hacks that make the many applications of bifferboard.

Greetings,

Rolf

If you read more about the kickstarter project too, the magic is
really in the software. It hooks into your portable device and makes
your remote storage appear local to the mobile device.

I was quite intrigued by it, and the Plug/WANSER-R/Bifferboard really
is just a small adaptor in a much bigger project.

OMG!  These guys have nearly $1.1M and still have 9 days to go.  WOW!  I was not expecting them to make their $70K goal.

Crikey! Amazing what you can do with some good marketing ;-) Be
interesting to see how frustrated people get with it when they realise
how slow their home's upload bandwidth is...
