Introducing BIDS Extension Proposal (BEP) for Sleep Data and Annotations

Dear BIDS Community,
Hope this message finds you well.
I am Pouya Taghipour Langrodi, a recently graduated BSc student in Biomedical Engineering, mentored by Ali Saberi from the Sleep and Memory Lab at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour. We are excited to propose a new BIDS extension to standardize the storage of sleep data and annotations, an essential step for advancing sleep research.
Sleep staging annotations are the starting point for establishing a unified framework for standardized sleep data and annotations within BIDS. Our goals include developing a flexible specification, ensuring interoperability, supporting annotations from human experts and automated algorithms, and facilitating data sharing and automated analysis pipelines.
