Setting up Information systems Including the Involvement of Stakeholders

Stakeholders are all the people, Institutions or Organizations which may be affected or impacted by the implementation of the Information systems which is to be set up.

Involving stakeholder is very important when setting up the health information system, because these kind of project is quite different from setting up other systems, this kind of system always involve behavior changes. Like the BID in Tanzania the project is expected to change the way people are working. This needs Computer knowledge for the Immunization Nurse or RCH Nurse.

Also Since they have their own practice it is always important to make sure you incorporate each and everything they are performing in your design for example if they have to record weight you need to put that functionality in the system.

For BID we use User advisory group, that way it is easy to get advice and other suggestion from the different stakeholders in every step you make in setting up the information system.

The Question is to what level you involve the stakeholder as there are different stakeholders and different influence they have in the system which is being setting up.

If making Health information system, do we involve stakeholder as to what kind of Equipment to use? Or which technology to use in your system? What kind of Operating system do your system run?
