This is just a reminder that the Better Immunization Data Learning Network (BLN) has invited you to join a webinar entitled “Rolling out a nationwide web-based District Health Information System, DHIMS2- the Ghana experience”.
This webinar will focus on the practical aspects of rolling out a nationwide web-based district health information system (DHIMS2) in Ghana. The presenters will highlight the opportunities and challenges as they have encountered them in Ghana, and elaborate important lessons that they have learned. They will address critical issues of implementing a maternal/child register and the webinar should be of interest to both technical and non-technical personnel with an interest in setting up immunization registries in an African context.

Presenter Information
Mr Dominic Atweam
Mr. Atweam is the Health Information Systems Analyst for the Ghana Health Service (GHS), and the lead person for most of the eHealth initiatives being implemented by the GHS. He currently oversees the development, deployment, and the implementation of district health information systems community electronic register for pregnant mothers and children under the age of five years.
He is the technical advisor on the GHS e-Health systems integration (interoperability) with the district health information system (DHIMS2) and has served as a technical person in developing and reviewing the GHS Enterprise Architecture (EA). Further he has been working on health information systems with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) since 2000 as a health information officer.
Mr Atweam holds a diploma in health information systems, a post graduate certificate in health informatics, and an MSC in health informatics. In addition Mr Atweam is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) and a Microsoft Certified Data Base Administrator (MCDBA)
Dr Anthony Ofosu
Dr Anthony Ofosu is currently the acting deputy director of the Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Ghana Health Service in charge of the Information Monitoring and Evaluation Department. He has expertise in the area of public health, health economics, epidemiology, health systems and health care management. He was previously the Medical Superintendent of the Sene District Hospital and prior to that was the District Director of Health Services at the Sene District Health Directorate.
Dr Ofosu has been involved in a number of international assignments including as a: reviewer of the MAKER website for the World Health Organization; temporary advisor to the World Health Organization at the First Global Forum on Human Resources for Health; facilitator at the Leadership and Management workshop by the Ministry of Health staff of the Blue Nile States in Damazine, Sudan. He has also participated in the Joint Assessment of National health Strategies and plans (JANS) of the Ghana National HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan2011- 2015.
Dr Chilunga Puta
Chilunga Puta, Director of the BLN, is an infectious disease research and public health practitioner with in excess of 20 years of experience working in developing country health care settings. She has held diverse technical and administrative positions that have enabled her to acquire a wide range of skills and in-depth understanding of developing economy health care systems. Dr Puta holds BSc joint honours in Biochemistry and Microbiology, a PhD in Biochemistry, an MPH with a major in Disease Surveillance, and is a Certified Quality Improvement Associate of the American Society for Quality.
