In August 2021, the World Health Organization developed the first web-based equipment Inventory and Gap Analysis (IGA 1.0) application to help ease the burden on countries for collecting
and analyzing equipment inventory data.
The web-based software has a complete functionality, is open-source and can be installed in any Microsoft®-supported server. IGA has a complementary mobile application that can
run in any Android® supported smart phones and tablets and can be used to enter data, which can be processed using the web based IGA application. IGA is designed to be used in any country, for any programme and can be translated to any languages.
IGA has two levels of users: admin and user levels. The admin group (staff who has knowledge of the country and the programme) has access to software configuration and settings.
Therefore, the admin group can configure and adjust the settings of the application to address the country- and programme-specific needs and situation. Users have no access to configuration and settings and have limited and customized access to the application.
IGA is currently available in English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Arabic languages. It can be easily translated to any other languages.
IGA has several built-in reports and has a mapping function. The reports have multiple filters to estimate gaps at different administrative levels and for individual or for all
facilities based on the criteria set by the software administrator. In addition, all data can easily be exported to MS Excel® sheets for more detailed facility segmentation and equipment analysis. IGA also has an option to estimate future gaps and requirements
- for at least five years from the time of data collection - to support planning.
IGA is recommended for collecting and analyzing inventory of equipment and other non-consumable assets such as cold chain equipment, transport vehicles, temperature monitoring devices,
power generators, computers and printers, incinerators, autoclaves, electrical equipment such as voltage regulator, and other auxiliary devices.
Georgia is the first country to use IGA for collecting equipment inventory data from all facilities in all administrative levels.

You can already register to the next session of our webinar series on "Temperature Monitoring: Keeping a Cold Chain Cold"
Session: RTMDs: How to get the most out of your real-time temperature monitoring data
Date/time: Thursday 25 November, 15:00 CET
With the expansion of the vaccine cold chain network and infrastructure, the ability to monitor equipment performance, procure appropriate equipment, maintain this equipment is
vital to ensure safety of vaccines and related investments. This can be significantly enhanced through the analysis and use of data that is routinely generated from cold chain equipment (CCE) and remote temperature monitoring devices (RTMDs). This session
explores key considerations in procurement and deployment of RTMDs, data ownership and access, interoperability as well as utilization of data for decision making. Rich country experiences will be shared to show case how countries are making the best use of
their data outlining some challenges faced along the way.

As countries conduct mini COVID-19 vaccine Post-Introduction Evaluation (mini-cPIE), also called the COVID-19 Vaccination Intra-Action Review (IAR), to review and adjust their COVID-19
vaccine roll-out, WHO will be hosting regular clinics for countries to share learnings with peer countries. Countries that have already conducted a mini-cPIE will be invited to share their experiences, while countries interested in conducting a mini-cPIE can
have the opportunity to directly connect with these countries to seek advice and ask questions they may have, including practical tools and tips for the preparation, conduct and follow-up of a mini-cPIE. Countries can also use these clinics to propose new
tools they deem useful or request technical support from WHO. This webinar is the fourth of the series of clinics that will be held in the coming months as countries review the early phase of their vaccine roll-out using the WHO IAR (mini-cPIE) tools.
When: Tue 23 November, 12:00-1:30 PM CET

Updated guidance to support countries in the development of National Immunization Strategies (NIS) is now available in English, French and Russian at
https://www.who.int/teams/immunization-vaccines-and-biologicals/vaccine-access/planning-and-financing/nis. The Guidance is accompanied by a new and simplified costing approach to support the NIS process, NIS.COST
https://immunizationeconomics.org/unicef-niscost, as well as guidance on Annual Operational Planning (AOPs).The new NIS guidance focuses on more informed, country owned, and sustainable decision-making and the prioritization
of interventions needed to reach zero dose children and communities in line with Immunization Agenda 2030. It also supports a dialogue between Ministry of Health and Finance leads to ensure an agreed financial envelope is available to fund NIS key strategic
priorities. In addition, there is greater emphasis on a broad and inclusive dialogue at the country level and greater integration with the health care system beyond immunization. This first webinar in a series will provide an introduction to the new approach
and the available guidance. The series will continue with sessions in 2022 focusing on specific steps in the NIS development process such as the costing approach and situation analysis.
