Mini-cPIE (COVID-19 vaccination IAR) Clinic 3: Country Experience Sharing and Lessons Learned from Fragile States/Humanitarian Contexts

Screen Shot 2564 09 14 at 19.37.53

As countries conduct mini COVID-19 vaccine Post-Introduction Evaluation (mini-cPIE), also called the COVID-19 Vaccination Intra-Action Review (IAR), to review and adjust their COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, WHO will be hosting regular clinics for countries to share learnings with peer countries.

Countries that have already conducted a mini-cPIE will be invited to share their experiences, while countries interested in conducting a mini-cPIE can have the opportunity to directly connect with these countries to seek advice and ask questions they may have, including practical tools and tips for the preparation, conduct and follow-up of a mini-cPIE. Countries can also use these clinics to propose new tools they deem useful or request technical support from WHO. This webinar is the third of the series of clinics that will be held in the coming months as countries review the early phase of their vaccine roll-out using the WHO IAR (mini-cPIE) tools.

When: Tue 12 October, 12:00-1:30 PM CEST

Re: Webinar #8: Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine: Planning and Implementation (WHO series on Costing, Budgeting, Financing and Delivery of COVID-19 Vaccines)

Answers to all questions asked during the webinar session Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine: Planning and Implementation have now been provided by the session presenters. The full Q&A has been consolidated into a single document that can be found here:

https://www.technet-21.org/en/library/main/7313-costing,-budgeting,-financing-and-delivery-of-covid-19-vaccines---q&a-for-session-08:-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine:-planning-and-implementation

These are the questions that have been answered:

  • What are the most common vaccination strategies in Africa? And what are the hardest ones to implement?
  • What is the minimum shelf life of vaccine required for countries in order to achieve a smooth uptake of vaccines, as we are getting information that a huge amount of vaccines will expire soon, by the end of September 2021?
  • Most of the COVID-19 vaccines have a short shelf life by the time it is received by the country. What is the lowest shelf life that a country can use, understanding it will vary from country to country, and is based on the maturity level of their vaccine delivery system?
  • Which kind of training is to be conducted every week? Is this formal training or update on key information?
  • Which strategy is preferable for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine rollout in low CCE infrastructure set up?
  • What is the way forward on routinizing COVID-19 vaccination with the RI?
  • What is the target polulation eligible to get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in final approval for use? Can the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine be used as a 2nd dose or 3rd dose, mixing with 1st dose with another vaccine?
  • Is it adequate for a country to receive the vaccine with a 2 months shelf life?
  • When you take vaccine from -80°C to -20°C and then back to -80°C, can you take it back to -20°C again? Does the first transfer change the expiry date?
  • Is it compulsory to use Arktek devices? What if a country doesnt have Arktek devices but have Cold boxes?
  • Is 700L the highest UCC freezer capacity?
  • Are countries really able to choose whether the equipment has dual temperature or is this decided at global level for countries?
  • Can you please share official guidelines regarding the extension of shelf-life of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine from 6 months to 9 months? Can this be applied to already manufactured vials too? Or is it only for the vaccines produced after some specific date?
  • What is the difference between frozen water packs and conditioned frozen water packs?
  • Mapping of dry ice production facility is critical if thermal shipper is used for a long period. How many days can a thermal shipper be used by replacing dry ice?
