Networking Exchange at the DS-I Africa Consortium Meeting
As you may know, the NIH Common Fund’s Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) program aims to leverage data science technologies to transform biomedical and behavioral research and develop solutions that would lead to improved health for individuals and populations. DS-I Africa currently funds 19 awards including research hubs, research training programs, research into ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI), and an open data science platform and coordinating center. DS-I Africa will host its first in-person Consortium Meeting from October 28 – November 3, 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa. During this meeting, we are hosting a Networking Exchange event that will allow you to learn more about the DS-I Africa program, interact with awardees in the consortium, and meet other data science and health organizations in Africa.
The Networking Exchange will take place the evening of Tuesday, November 1 in the Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge and Graduate School of Business (GSB) Conference Centre in Cape Town. The informal event is similar to a scientific poster session and will be open to any organization working on data science and health in Africa.
If you are interested in participating and can travel to Cape Town at your own expense, we invite you to join us for the Networking Exchange. You are also invited to attend other portions of the Consortium Meeting for a registration fee. If you are interested in attending, please register here via RedCap as soon as possible and no later than October 14, 2022. Please note that participants must be able to travel to the meeting at their own expense, attending other portions of the meeting is subject to registration fees and seating availability.
If you have any questions about the Networking Exchange, please contact Francis at ds-i-afr...@uct.ac.za or Amit Mistry at amit....@nih.gov.
