In Cameroon’s conflict-affected Northwest and Southwest regions, frontline health workers are overcoming insecurity, displacement, and fragile health systems to deliver life-saving vaccines to zero-dose and under-immunized children. Through innovative strategies, like integrating immunization with nutrition services and conducting door-to-door outreach, teams are reaching vulnerable communities while building trust and reducing vaccine hesitancy. This powerful story highlights the resilience and dedication of health workers and demonstrates how community-centered, integrated approaches can sustain immunization efforts even in the most challenging humanitarian settings.

Women across the globe are leading immunization programs, shaping policy, and driving community impact, yet their experiences, challenges, and leadership pathways are too often under-recognized.

In honor of International Women's Month, the Boost Community has hosted a BoostHER Special Dialogue Series, a three-part global virtual dialogue spotlighting women’s leadership in immunization and advancing gender-responsive practice across the sector.

In Session 1, immunization professionals from around the world joined an interactive, story-driven dialogue that amplified women’s lived experiences across immunization systems and explored key barriers identified through the Boost Gender Analysis and 2025 Annual Survey. It created space for peer learning, reflection, and collective priority-setting, helping to shape a shared agenda for advancing gender equity in immunization.

In Session 2, speakers from Unicef and CHAI introduced specific gender-responsive planning tools and how they have been adapted to local contexts. Discussion was generated around these tools and others, and how participants have utilized them in their own work. We heard from participants on their feedback on what new or different tools could be helpful in ensuring equity in immunization programming.

Keep an eye out for details on our final session at the end of April!
