Scam: used bike gear

All, 

A friend of mine was scammed by someone on this email list in the last two weeks. He saw a posting for some used bicycle equipment. The scammer said he was a BBC member, built trust, and extracted payment for a product that was never sent. It's been reported to PayPal now. 

As an admin, I have now banned all email addresses in the last four years who have posted items for sale here. New users require admin permission to join this list. If I spot anymore postings to sell good here, I will assume it is a scammer and ban the account. Hopefully this helps.

Please stay vigilant, and assume anyone trying to sell things here is a scammer. Some final advice about buying from strangers online i.e. Facebook Marketplace, Pink Bike, etc. If the seller wants a money order, it's a scam. If the seller wants you to use PayPal as "friends and family" instead of "goods and services," it is a scam.
