Hello :-)

I bought 100 RED LED very cheap ($0.05 each one), to test. I bought
from this link: http://www.ledshoppe.com/Product/led/LE1018.htm

I was looking for some hight bright LED, but these one are not. Does
anyone knows any good online shop with good prices/quality LED for
BicycLED POV?

The project name is now "BicycLED POV" instead of "Bicycle LED POV".
We are starting working on PCB and very soon we will buy the
components for the first prototypes.

Current schematic is on SVN: http://code.google.com/p/bicycleledpov/source/browse/

I bought those LEDs exactly, and I call that very bright: are you sure
you're giving them the right voltage and intensity? You can search LEDs
in the famous big shops like farnell, and try to find how many mcd do
their LEDs give, just to see if there are brighter LEDs in the market.

Regarding components, remember to ask for free samples. It's great to
test the components before you buy a big amount of them and it's easier
to get samples than buy the components.

Good luck!

I have a variable power source supply, and I put 2V on LED and current
were ~= 20mA. I even tested a few LED from the 100 units.

In past I participating on doing Arduino workshop, and the LED we used
were much more strong! enough for lightning applications.

You sent that picture before. Is that the LED you bought from LEDShoppe?

I like that picture, it seems good, I think.

Pablo, just now I saw that it says "Bici critica" :-) -- here in
Portugal is "Massa Crítica", and I participace since a few years. I
participate on Portuguese site: http://massacriticapt.net/

The same ones. Maybe yours are faulty indeed.

Yes, I don't know why they chose "bici crítica" instead of the
international name "masa crítica", but that's the idea. I've only been
around for a couple of years, but they've been running for more than
five, I think.
