I have HU8550, SEK 3500 set-up. Firmware 1453. Netflix app has been reinstalled. I still get the "cannot play title at this time" message on every title. Netflix works fine on all other devices in my house. Any ideas?
So the solution is for Samsung to assign an employee to each Samsung smart TV that's ever been sold. This employee would be responsible for rebooting his or her assigned TV every time the app locks up. TV mounted on the wall? No problem. Samsung employee will take it down, unplug/replug it and remount it. TV in an entertainment center? Samsung employee will jockey the TV around to get to the plug.
YES PEOPLE I AGREE WITH TIM. Samsung is evading this whole problem. I will do the same from my end. I live in Trinidad & Tobago. Samsung rep on the island doesn't know either what to do. They want to charge me just for a technician to come look at my TV. My TV is only 4 months old.
This helped me too. Thank you. I almost went crazy trying to get Netflix to open. I actually have second user logins for both Netflix and Foxtel. Neither of these companies honor the second user login on Smart TV. I will not subscribe to them. I use HDMI Cable connected to the Samsung Smart TV and Laptop PC just like I did with my other Sony TV.
Turning the power off, waiting then back on worked for me. Resetting Smarthub never worked because it kept asking me for a pin number I never set up. Just as well. The power on off was much less stressful after trying unsuccessfully to uninstall Netflix and Amazon.
Thanks. I just bought my Samsung Smart TV so I have the "luxury" of returning the thing if it can't be made to "play nice" with Netflix. I've already spent too many hours and headaches trying to communicate with Samsung and Netflix and searching GOOGLE.
I have the same problem, netflix app appears to be part of the samsung firmware on my TV, only app I cannot remove and reinstall I think. I have a Samsung blu ray player too, guess what exactly the same problem with netflix, everything else work fine on both tv and blu ray player except Netflix. Samsung you are about to lose a heap of customers very quickly. Netflix I suggest you get your heads out of the sand and start putting some pressure on samsung to fix their poor quality products or you also are about to lose a heap of customers next month. By the way Stan and all other apps work fine. The Samsung bluray ray player when won't connect to netflix, I can check network it checks and connects to 3 out of the 4 netflix servers but won't connect to server 3 and that's the problem.
Samsung has not updated the netflix app in thier tv and blue ray firmwares and is running an old netflix app. But alot of samsung devices you cannot unis tall and reinstall the app. Samsung has to do a firmware update. I have contacted samsung service who remotely connected to my TV, but could not fix the problem, they were going to escalate the problem and they would ring back in 24 hours. That was 3 days ago and nothing from samsung. Samsung has no idea of customer service at all.
Netflix and Amazon Video both will not play any titles on either of our Samsung TVs for at least the past month. We have no problem watching on our laptops, phones, iPads, or on our Sony TV or through the Xbox. Just went through the long process of having a Samsung rep access the TV remotely, including restoring the TV to factory settings and restarting the SmartHub. Nothing worked. They are telling me someone will contact me in 2 days, but after seeing this 41-page thread, I'm not sure that will ever happen. This is a known problem that Samsung isn't addressing quickly enough. The rep on my chat should have been aware of this issue and that there is currently no resolution.
We just bought a new Samsung TV and I keep getting a message saying it can not connect to server when I try to sign in. Or I get that the server is under maintenance? I cannot get to Netflix, any apps or anything. We bought this Tv because it is supposed to be a smart TV but it's not very smart and no help is available. I tried reset the TV and that did nothing any suggestions.
I had the same issue on three TV's. I logged into my Samsung account to make sure the products were registered, they weren't. I then registered them using the serial numbers and in the case of an older TV, I had to use the serial and model number. Once registered, go back to the TV remote and select Settings/General/System Manager/Samsung Account. If you created an account, it will be visible. if you are logged in, you will see a blue circle with a white checkmark. If not, go to Add Account and sign-in sing your Samsung user id and password. I was then able to connect to the Samsung Server.
just putting this up because I've had endless issues with just this until right now... I had internet access but apps told me they Couldn't connect to Samsung server and then streaming apps wouldn't work via WiFi.
Tried what you suggested. It did not work for me. I cannot change channels or change volume on my samsung tv. It give me not available messages or servers not available. my wifi and internet is rock solid. The house is full of devices and only this tv has issues. Voice remote doesn't work either. How can you set sleep timer with no voice remote? I tried using different remotes with same results. Looking at this community, seems to be a lot of ppl with same/similar issues across many tv models across many years. My tv worked fine for 3 years and now is unusable due to all these issues. Samsung techs have spent hours on the phone try this, try that, no results. How disappointing. Wonderful picture. Too bad you can't change channels or volume or have it turn off by timer. Useless tv now. Any ideas?
Hello. I bought my Samsung in 2018 and have the exact problem- unable to connect to the Samsung server, no Netflix or any other apps, and no volume control. I tried all the suggestions but nothing has worked. I also tried changing the address in the network settings to 8.8.8.8 but there was no option to change the number from 0.0.0.0. Were you ever able to fix it?
(5) After that, everything else worked like a charm. I could set everything back to the way it was, changing DNS, the whole nine. Stinks that I had to basically rebuild my old setup.. if there's an easier way to set DNS and agree to the T&C, please post so the less tech-savvy can more easily accomplish this. I spent easily two or three hours troubleshooting every last little thing on my network.
We're glad you are here so we can best assist you. To use casting, the supported app must be installed on your mobile device and Roku TV. You must also connect your phone or tablet to the same wireless network as your Roku device. You can do this wirelessly with supported apps like YouTube and Netflix by opening the casting icon on the mobile device on your phone or tablet and selecting your Roku device.
I have never been able to use Android's native cast (Cast Connect) to cast through my Roku devices. Some of my previous Android phones were able to use Google Cast to cast some content (ie. Youtube, Netflix, etc-- that symbol that allowed user to cast to TV from within the opened app.)
I just use third party casting apps now when needing to cast content from my Android mobile devices to the Roku device. My personal preference is Web Video Caster (WVC), but others like Castify and Tubio work fine also.
With all the above, you install the app on your mobile device or phone (all can be found in the Play Store), and then you install a companion receiver on your Roku device. (all found in the Roku Channel Store).
The apps mentioned above are free (with ads on phone), and all offer paid features also. WVC is a one-time purchase of $3 or $4 for an ad-free full featured lifetime use, but the free version works perfectly fine. (a few additional features with the paid version).
Is there a way to cast from my mobile device to my Roku tv using Androids screen cast feature or if I'm in a mobile app for which an equivalent app is unavailable on Roku tv? I've been able to do these functions on my Android TV.
You can of course cast to your Roku TV what you are already watching on your mobile device. To use casting, the supported app must be installed on both your mobile device and your Roku streaming device. You must also make sure to connect your phone or tablet to the same wireless network as your Roku device.
You can do this wirelessly with supported apps like YouTube and Netflix by opening the casting icon on a mobile device on your phone or tablet and selecting your Roku device. The channel will launch automatically on your Roku device and playback will begin.
If you are unable to cast Netflix from your phone to your Roku TV even though you have downloaded the Netflix app on both devices and they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, there are a few things you can try:
Note: The Screen Cast icon may be located in different locations depending on your Android phone model and version of Android. If you can't find it in the Quick Settings panel, try searching for it in the Settings app. Additionally, not all Android phones support screen casting, so make sure your device is compatible before attempting to cast.
I see this topic has been raised before but never really answered as far as I can see. I recently bought a Sonos AMP for playing TV sound through my good speakers. I connected the AMP to the speakers, and played some spotify music, it works. I then connected the TV to the AMP using the HDMI ARC port on the samsung tv, and played some netflix using the samsung app, and it worked. But next day it was not working anymore. It took a lot of debugging, but I think I found the pattern:
