Let's hassle eachother over... bickerfest myspace

i haven't used myspace in months, but a couple of days ago i saw it
mentioned in one of our new subscriber's blogs (very comically, i
might add).

i then started thinking about myspace's potential positive networking
benefits, so i threw together a quick bickerfest myspace page.

the one thing i don't like about it is that myspace now converts all
of your hyper links into hidden myspace links -- so that you can't
even preview where the link might send you (as you normally can with
any other hyperlink by hovering over it and checking the destination
address in your browser footer).

that not only seems overly control freakish on their part, it's just
plain wrong and stupid, but on the plus side they have improved and/or
fixed some of the other annoying flaws in some of their features.

anyway, let's start hassling eachother over...

http://www.myspace.com/bickerfest

so...

what do you like?

what do you not like?

i really like how well Arleen's logo works as an icon, though it still
needs a bit of tweaking.

and do check out Heather Knox's rockin' Drinking Song.

the song is very upbeat, even if it is about heartbreak and
relationships gone bad.

that woman has got a great intensity about her.

well, personally, i'd much rather have my heated arguments on the
beach half-cocked rather than in some dank torture chamber, but that's
just me.

YMMV

LOL! I agree with Paula. You're mixing up your other endeavors. Get
rid of the peace peeps.com and the beaches and the flower power stuff.
Give this a strong motif of its own. That doesn't mean blood and guts,
just something a bit more...more.

I don't like it any more. I think it looks stupid.

Here's some more playing, but I don't think this is it, either. It's
lacking. I really don't have time to keep working on it, but I liked
Paula's idea. Maybe less of a soft flame, more hard edges.

I like the song, but not for this. You need to find something feisty,
yet with a good ending or moral or something.

yikes.

well then, off to the torture chamber with you both.

enjoy.

you silly people.

> You're mixing up your other endeavors.

no, i'm not.

they're all the same endeavor.

peace, love, understanding, truth, tolerance, sanity, creativity,
laughter, music, joy, faith, fun, and freedom, (24/7)!

those are my endeavor filters.

oh, and cash.

the 24/7 is a bit ridiculous, but it's good poetry.

(the way it exhausts you just to consider it).

> Get rid of the peace peeps.com

it's already resolving at the bicker blog.

http://www.PeacePeeps.com

besides, i've got over 5,000 pals at the myspace peace peeps thinger,
and about a five hundred of them of them still have peace peeps in
their top friends list -- despite what the disgusting war-mongering
hateful smear-mongering truth-hating hac/kers did.

c'est la vie, ya know.

> and the beaches and the flower power stuff.

ditch that?

why?

> Give this a strong motif of its own.

it already does have that.

so let's bicker about it.

> That doesn't mean blood and guts,

more what?

the floor is yours here at bickerfest.

not at all.

it just needs a little tweaking.

lacking?

it's the ugliest thing you've ever made.

i can't picture what you guys are getting at.

therefore, it must not be a very good logo.

talk about yukky, whoa.

that's downright nauseating.

Ziggy's _Love is My Religion_ is quite the beautiful and profound
upbeat tune.

> You need to find something feisty,
> yet with a good ending or moral or something.

i'm sure there's many better candidates, but Ziggy's song has a great
moral:

enough with the bullshit delusions and lies.

if you don't have love, your religion/philosophy
is pure hypocritical crap and a major deception.

but he doesn't condemn anyone, they condemn themselves:

"Love is my religion"

"you can take it or leave it"

"you don't have to believe it"

IOW: ignore/reject love at your own peril.

it's your own free will.

you either have real love in your heart, or you don't.

if you don't, you're fucked.

unless you find love somehow.can simply ponder

so get busy looking into your heart, and all that.

pray.

atheists can simply ponder the truth of it.

Love:

"you can take it or leave it"

"you don't have to believe it"

so argue about all that now, if you like.

whatever floats your boat.

Yes, I understand that, but it's too much. Too disjointed. Too hodge
podge. I don't know how else to explain. Okay, so let's work from your
filters and see how we can make it all flow together. Bickering in a
state of peace, love and understanding. Like we're doing now. :-) You
need a symbol, a trademark, that's punchy enough to be remembered,
that symbolizes the word bickerfest, but that also underscores how
even heated disagreement can be conducted respectfully and where
everyone can keep their sense of humor about them (hopefully. you
don't ask for much, do you?).

I just thought of something. It may not work, either, but I'll give it
a whirl. I'm not in the zone, as you can tell, so I don't know if
today is the best day to try it out, but it has caught my imagination,
so we'll see.

Well, give me suggestions. Or take the thing off my hands and play
with it yourself.

LOL! Yes, after going away from it and coming back, I think I have to
agree with you.

Alright already. I got it the first time. ;-)

I'll leave the song arguing for someone else. I'm not very musically
literate, so wouldn't be able to offer suggestions.

I forgot to mention that I can see how having your peacepeeps fan base
would help to generate subscribers which is what gave me this new
idea. But I'm not saying what it is because it may bomb, royally.

Okay, here's the idea. The idea, mind you, not the final product. No
time for more.

yeah, i was thinking about something along the same lines only i was
thinking of somehow merging your bicker banter ball with the peace
peeps logo, swapping out the peace peeps domain address with your
bickerfest banter ball.

i just love the flowers-on-the-gree-grass peace sign on the top
segment and the flowers on the bottom as well, with the red one
amongst all the yellow ones symbolizing and celebrating individualism
AND conformity at the same time, as well as just beauty itself.

agreeing to disagree, so to speak.

anyway, a lot of other people seemed to like that design concept as
well.

hey, BTW aj, where did the ugly ones go?

did you toss them?

what WERE you thinking?

> That's kinda cool. What if you added "agree to disagree to agree to
> disagree" in a loop inside the border (making it match up of course)?

i love that idea!

an endless loop of agree to disagree to agree.

perfecto!

and sublime.

not sure it would work on a logo, but...

it's a fantastic visual concept for Argument Marketing pieces in
general.

posters, coffee mugs, what have you.

nice going, Paula!
