IOW: when a song is played, you recognize that you've heard it
before. you know the basic melody, rhythm, and when applicable, you
know the words (to some degree, anyway).

so, how many songs do you figure that you know?

1] a couple hundred+

2] a couple thousand+

3] ten to twenty thousand+

4] about fifty thousand or so

5] more

and what percentage of those songs that you recognize have you
listened to more than a dozen times?

likewise, more than a hundred times?

how do you figure that you managed to spend that much time listening
to music?

and how much great music do you suppose that you've never heard
before?

are you listening to a song at this very minute?

what is it?

if not, what's the last song you listened to?

and how long ago was that?
