BICHOLIM: Heavy rain lashed Bicholim with several incidents of tree falling reported in the talks.
Due to gusty wind and incessant rainfall, one mango tree collapsed on the house of one Shubhangi Parwar at Kasarpal, Latambarcem Bicholim Taluka. Estimated loss is Rs.50,000.
A jungle tree collapsed on the Community Hall of Rastroli Devasthan, Kolgirem Salem Bicholim. No human casualty reported as per the report of Talathi.
Bicholim Mamletdar, Pravinjay Pandit Mamlatdar of Bicholim Taluka conducted inspection of anjunem Dam alongwith the executive engineer WRD, M Hodakiti to review the water level.The Executive Engineer WRD informed the Mamlatdar that they have released water from all four gates of anjunem dam due to incessant rainfall and the water level is 91.2 m , however danger level of the anjunem dam is 93 m.The Executive Engineer further stated that the water level of valvanti river sankhali and bicholim river is about 2.7 m and there is no immediate danger and situation is under control. The Mamlatdar directed the Executive engineer to monitor the situation round the clock.
As there was heavy rainfall dewatering was taken up at Sanquelim and Bicholim Water pumping station by Water Resource Department. The water level of Sanquelim River was 2.80 m and the water level of Bicholim River was 3.30 m. Situation was under control and was monitored round the clock by the Disaster Management Team.
