Greater Pune Sarbojanin Durgotsav 2014 under Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad, 55
Bhosale Nagar, Pune has organized pre-puja Celebrations from 31-Aug-14 and
tomorrow is the closure of 3rd and final Program before Durga Puja. The
program is part of Platinum Jubilee celebration of Greater Pune Sarbojanin
Durga Puja organized by Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad.
Legend in singing Bengali songs of golden era (before and after fifties
till early nineties), Bengali comic songs, Rabindrasangeet, Nazrulgeeti and
other Bengali songs, Shri Alak Roy Chowdhury is coming to Pune with Debasish
Saha, a disciple of Late V Balsara and top keyboardist in Kolkata. They will
present “Pujor Gaan” to citizens of Pune on Saturday evening, 20-Sep-2014 at
SIMS, Range Hill Auditorium, from 7 PM.
I request your help in informing / sharing the BSS cultural activity news
to all members of your esteemed organization and request their presence in
the hall.
Program is open to all and there is no tickets or donation passes for the
program. First 3 rows are reserved for guests and senior citizens and rest
are open to all as first come first occupy basis.

An accomplished student of Rabindra Sangeet from Dakshinee, Kolkata, Shri
Alak Roy Chowdhury’s professional approach has been in all types of Bengali
songs, particularly those popular songs of yesteryears creating a nostalgia
in the mind of his audiences. His specialization is on modern and old
Bengali songs, while he is equally at home in Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul
Geeti, songs from the Puratani Plays, Comedy, Patriotic and Folk Songs. A
widely traveled artist in India and countries of Europe and America, his
rich baritone voice, exquisite diction, impeccable 'Gayaki' and the total
command over the subject has won him high acclaim wherever he has performed.
Shri Roy Chowdhury has given music direction to some of Tagore's dance
dramas directed and choreographed by late Manjusree Chaki Sarcar. Worked in
the lead role as an actor singer in Shaonli Mitra's 'Nathabati Anathabati'.
An Ex-Faculty of Rabindra Bharati University, Shri Alak Roy Chowdhury has
given music direction to a number of tele-serials in Kolkata.
