Greetings,
In my role as librarian, I would like to call your attention to this timely book due to be published in May.  I will be ordering it for my library.  "Will the Last Reporter Please Turn out the Lights?: The Collapse of Journalism and What Can Be Done To Fix It", by Robert W. McChesney (communications, Univ. of Illinois, Urbanan-Champaign) & Victor Pickard (media, culture & communications, N.Y.U.).  The collection of essays, written by both liberal and conservative journalists and media scholars, "highlights journalism's role as a crucial component of democracy and as an institution that needs to be reinvigorated in the face of sweeping global technological and economic changes." (from review in Library Journal, April 15, 2011).
Best,

Jackie

Hi Jacqueline,

I got a free copy at the National Conference for Media Reform, and will be digging in shortly. This is something that would be great just as a quick post in the Biblionews Group activity stream on JTM Online. Not everyone is registered to the Google Group, plus other people on the web can pick up your suggestion.

I'll be sending out an email soon with instructions and suggestions on the best way to use JTM Online for post-conference exchanges and activities

Thanks,
Jacob

In short, create an account at JTM Online (you can spruce up our profile later, though it's great to have a head shot so we can see a human smile next to the post)

Join the Biblionews Group

copy and paste the block of text you sent out with your recommendation into the Biblionews group activity stream (right there at the homepage of the group)

If you want to do more than that, you'll have to wait for my longer form email, but you can also start your own group, make a blog, invite others in JTM Online to blog with you, publish documents, etc. but this will get you going for now!

~Jacob
