does the new Google Social Graph API help? I understand we are not
really working with data right off the web, but does the structuring
of data work if it was applied to a biblical names database?

Mark:

I think a lot of interesting new views can come from explicitly
representing relationships between people in the Biblical text, and
we're working on challenges like these at Logos. That said, i don't
think the Google API helps much with representing Biblical data
(though i plan to look at it more for my own data): it's more focused
on asserting personal identity and inter-personal relationships. Those
same issues arise for Biblical characters, but i think they can be
more directly and usefully encoded with other approaches than the web-
based one that the Google API is intended to support.

Mark,

There may be an application here but I think the key to success will be
to establish a set of names and leave the implementation/uses to the
broader community.

I would think we would be smart to stay clear of http or any other
protocol as a part of a standardized set of identifiers as protocols
will come and go but I think we want these set of identifiers to be more
timeless.

That is not to say that the equivalent of a "name space" qualifier might
not be a bad idea.
