In Hebrew thought, a person bears both an individual responsibility for his or her own actions as well as a collective responsibility for the society in which he or she lives. This is a central concept in the Hebrew Bible that finds clear expression in the teachings of the Jewish Jesus. My Christian denomination’s teachings nullified the teachings of the Jewish Jesus.
