We now know that when they arrived in Babylon they were littered all throughout the country, pushed into dozens of different communities across the kingdom. The Jews, though, WERE NOT slaves. Other than the restriction that they couldn’t leave Babylon, they shared most of the same rights as their rulers. They could own property, they could build up wealth, and, if they did well enough, they could even be made royal officials.
