Looking at the journal after exporting USFM for a Bible, I see the following concerning message:

5 Décembre 2024 18:16:19 | Exporté en USFM: Neo-crampon-libre 2 Maccabees

5 Décembre 2024 18:16:19 | *** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated

5 Décembre 2024 18:16:19 | Exporté en USFM: Neo-crampon-libre Tous les livres

What could cause that? What can I do about it? The export appears to have completed, including a complete copy of the book before the buffer overflow message.

I'm running bibledit-cloud 5.1.005 on an old MacBook Pro Intel machine running Ubuntu 24.04 Noble. There is plenty of RAM (15.5 GiByte) and available SSD space (over a terabyte).

Hello Michael,

Likely the buffer overflow is caused by the embedded ZIP library.

One way to check this would be to check if the .zip file with all the books in them is complete and can be decompressed fine.

Likely there could be a problem there.

But I've never seen this before.

If there's a problem, it could help to open an issue on GitHub and attach the "Neo-crampon-libre" so I can try it out here too, and hopefully fix it.

Hello Teus,

Thank you. That was a good clue. There was no .zip file produced. I just installed several .zip utilities on that system based on the guess that you were missing a dependency for a library that is commonly installed. (This particular computer has a simple use case: clock, weather station, and Bibledit server for one Bible translation). After I did that, the export worked, including creating a readable .zip file. So the question for you is: what dependency was missing in the Ubuntu Bibledit Cloud installation?

Hello Michael,

Ah, it is, first of all good, that the export started to work after you had installed several zip utilities on the server.
Internally it uses the "zip" command line tool to do the zipping.
That must have been the missing tool in your situation.
Thanks for opening the issue on GitHub.
I'll update the Ubuntu packages to include this command line tool.
And that should fix the issue.
Thanks for testing Bibledit Cloud :) and contributing to it.

Teus
