Hello,

I'm not sure if this group is still active or being supported? I can't seem to find anywhere else to go for some support?

Essentially, I am new to BibleEdit and I have it installed on MacOS and Windows. I have found that it seems I can't change the style template at all? When I follow the instructions of:
--> I created a new style template. This is ok.
--> Go into settings -> Bibles -> Bible I want to work with.
I have the following seemingly unable to be selected, the "Standard" has no ability to be changed?

Stylesheet for editing: Standard

Stylesheet for export: Standard

I assume this is software is being supported as I see in Github last updates on 6 September 2024 for these programs or has everything gone 100% webversion?

Thanks,
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

I will try to answer.

Do you have a Bibledit-cloud server set up, or are you trying to do this in the demo?

Did you perhaps create the stylesheet on the Mac, but try to use it on the Windows computer? (or vice versa) I think that only the user who makes the style can use it on the computer on which it was created. Please, someone else confirm that.

Are you using the client program or the cloud version in an internet browser?

If I see your reply I will answer.

Phil

Hi Phil,
To your questions:
1. I don't have the Bibleedit-Cloud server set up. At least as of yet.

What I did was very simply, downloaded via the app store on Mac Bibleedit. I began working with it and wanted to play around with stylesheet settings. I tried following the process to change to a custom stylesheet and above is what I got. I wasn't able to select anything.

In testing this out, I then dowloaded and installed Bibleedit to my Windows PC and tried the same process. (given I thought maybe it as a Mac issue). But when I played around again and created a new stylesheet and went to apply it to my testing Bible. Again, same issue.

Both tests were on the client program. I haven't used the Web version at all. My expectation is if these client programs exist this functionality would be on them just as it would on the web application right?

I realise, syncing between devices would require Bibleedit cloud, but at the moment I just wanted to see if Bibleedit would meet my needs. Thanks for looking into this.

Hmm, strange I replied to this message but it seems not to be here?

So I have done two tests:
1. Just downloaded the client app on my Mac. Wanted to do an update of the stylesheet by following the youtube video and it shows unable to be selected.
2. Thought it was maybe a Mac only thing. So I downloaded the client and installed it on Windows. Again followed the youtube directions and was unable to make the change.

I know these are both local, but it's just not possible to change them? I am not on Bibleedit cloud or the web app.

My expecation is what is available on the web app should be available on the local client right?

Thanks

Hi Tim,

Ok, this is my third time trying to reply so hopefully it goes through this time?

So I am not yet using at all Bibleedit cloud. I am not using as of yet any web based app. What I have done was:
  1. Downloaded the client for Mac from the Mac app store. Followed the instructions about the styles and when I went to try to select a customer style ... I wasn't able to select anything. "Standard" was un-selectable.
  2. I thought maybe this was a Mac thing? So I downloaded the Windows client and installed it and followed the same instructions (having made a new style theme etc) and again, can't select anything or change anything.

I had expected that there shouldn't be any difference from the web app or? As if there is, what's the point of having a client?

I hope this message gets posted this time.
Thanks
