Subject: Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministry Evangelism Event (Sponsored by Maple Springs on Aug. 25)

Dear Gents:

I hope that you are continuing to enjoy a great summer!

I would like to announce an exciting evangelism opportunity on Sat., August 25!  I have recently obtained approval from the Church Trustees from Maple Springs to host the 2nd Annual "Fun With the Father Program" in Craven Hall on August 25 (8:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m.).  This program was created by Chaplain Rodney Stilwill and Jone Reid (good friend of Susie Gordon) of the the Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministry (307 Craft Drive; Winston-Salem) to help strengthen inmate families.  The Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministry is the only privately funded Christian Ministry in the State of NC.  With the recent elimination of all public funding for prison chaplains and their programs across the rest of the state (as part of balancing the state's budget this year), this ministry is that much more critical to the success of our community (since there is an 85% recidivism rate for male inmates who don't receive religious mentoring and professional training while in prison).  This event will provide the following on the 25th:

(1) Parenting classes, discussion and application for 30 soon-to-be released male inmates so that they can learn healthy parenting skills (provided by the Prison Chaplains and Administrative Staff);

*(2) Recreational activities and crafts (and lunch) for 50 children of these male inmates; as an FYI, the lunch will be prepared and provided by the Chaplains and Adminstrative Staff of the Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministry; and

(3) A rare opportunity for these 30 men to provide love and encouragement to their children as they begin the process of reconnecting with their families.

As an FYI, the wives of these male inmates also will be on site (at the Old Fellowship Hall).  However, 25 female volunteers from across the Winston-Salem community have already agreed to participate in this ministry.  So, the greatest need is for the men of our Church to volunteer to minister to the male inmates and their children.

I will be leading Maple Spring's volunteer efforts on the 25th as its relates to coordinating registration, recreational games and crafts.  Ross Mecham and Bob Mack (corn hole game) also have graciously agreed to support this volunteer effort on the 25th.  Will you please prayerfully consider whether you are willing/able to join them?

If so, all you need to do is respond "affirmatively" to this e-mail.  The attachment to this e-mail provides additional information about this important outreach ministry.  As an FYI, we are not being asked to "sponsor" any of the children attending this event (per the attachment).

This is a rare opportunity to get involved in Prison Ministry (without having to wait several months to obtain approval from a Background Check).  My approved Background Check will suffice.

God bless,

George Aldhizer
