TOKYO, July 16 (AFP) Jul 16, 2007
A series of strong aftershocks measuring up to 5.6 on the Richter scale
hit central Japan on Monday following a killer quake, the meteorological
agency said.
The quakes epicentre is located 10 kilometers (six miles) under the
ground near the coast at Kashiwazaki, the agency said, adding that there
was no fear of tsunami waves.
Earlier in the day, a powerful quake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale
hit the region, killing at least four people and injuring up to 400
others. Kashiwazaki was one of the cities hardest hit by the initial quake.
