Pediatrician gets 14 life sentences for raping young
patients
By Douglas Stanglin, USA TODAY
A former Delaware pediatrician who was convicted of raping or
abusing scores of children over an 11-year period got 14 life
sentences today, The News Journal reports.
Earl Bradley, 58, was convicted in June of multiple counts of
second-degree assault and sexual exploitation on 85 young girls
and one boy.
The sentencing followed chief prosecutor Paula Ryan's searing
comments to the court:
Earl Bradley committed unspeakable acts upon those who could
not speak for themselves. He deliberately manipulated the parents
of these children. He manipulated those who worked with him, and
he repeatedly and intentionally -- without remorse or hesitation –
attacked and sexually assaulted toddlers and nonverbal children.
To make indescribable and horrific matters even worse, he
videotaped these incidents for his own perverse pleasure,
endlessly editing and copying, permanently memorializing his
attacks on these children for his own twisted collection."
Bradley, who eseentially admitted to the crimes by not contesting
the authenticity of the tapes, plans to appeal the conviction on
grounds that the recordings were illegally seized from his office.
