Australia: Elderly Woman attacked on way to church
* From: AAP

AN elderly woman faces months of hospital treatment and
rehabilitation following an attack by two robbers as she walked to
church in Sydney's west.
"The 76 -year-old woman was on her way to a nearby church service
when she was targeted by these heartless individuals," Parramatta
Local Area Commander Superintendent Peter Marcon said.
She was walking through Rosella Park in Harris Park when she was
approached by two men about 9.30am (AEST) on Sunday.
One of the thieves grabbed the her handbag strap and tried to rip
it from her shoulder, before pulling her to the ground and
dragging her about five metres.
The strap broke and the men ran off with the handbag.
A member of the public called triple zero and the woman was taken
to Westmead Hospital with multiple breaks to her shoulder.
She now needs surgery to insert a prosthetic replacement, Police
said.
The woman also suffered a severely bruised knee and remains in
hospital.
Supt Marcon said he was appalled by the "malevolent attack" on "an
innocent member of the public".
"Indeed, the contents of her stolen hand bag included a five
dollar donation to the local parish," he said in a statement.
"It is worrying there are people who think it is okay to prey upon
the more vulnerable members of our community."
The woman told detectives both her attackers were of Middle
Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, medium build, about 170cm tall
and aged in their 30s with short black hair.
