The cholera epidemic that flared up in Haiti in October of last
year has already claimed more than 3,500 lives and infected almost
160,000 the country’s Health Ministry says in a statement.
Some independent experts believe the epidemic was brought in by
locally deployed Nepalese peacekeepers.
In the neighboring Dominican Republic the number of registered
infections stands at 148, but no one has died so far.
