An earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit an area in the Ionian Sea off the
coast of Greece on Sunday, the US government reported.
The epicentre of the tremor, which occurred at 1023 GMT (2023 AEST) was
located 152 kilometres west southwest of Patras, Greece, according to
the US Geological Survey.

The reading was based on the open-ended Moment Magnitude scale, now
