An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.0 hit near Luther in
central Oklahoma on Sunday evening, the Oklahoma Geological Survey said.
There were no reports of damage nor injuries, officials said.
The quake was located about 4.2 miles southwest of Luther and about 3.6
miles northeast of Jones, in eastern Oklahoma County, at 5:02 p.m.
The quake was felt in Jones, Luther, Oklahoma City, Arcadia, Harrah,
Edmond and Choctaw, according to the state geological survey, which is
located in Leonard, south of Tulsa.
Dozens of earthquakes have been reported in the Jones area this year,
including at least two dozen earthquakes between Sept. 1 and last week,
all with no damage.
Officials at the survey are asking anyone who felt Sunday’s quake to
report it to its website at
www.okgeosurvey1.gov.
