Strong Earthquake strikes deep beneath the South Pacific Ocean

NDOI ISLAND, FIJI (BNO NEWS) -- A moderate earthquake struck deep
beneath the South Pacific Ocean near Fiji on Wednesday morning,
seismologists said. No damage was expected.
The 5.5-magnitude earthquake at 10.16 a.m. local time (2216 GMT
Tuesday) was centered about 210 kilometers (130 miles) northeast of
Ndoi Island, an island part of Fiji. It struck about 563.4 kilometers
(350.1 miles) deep, making it a very deep earthquake, according to the
United States Geological Survey (USGS).
