5.6-magnitude earthquake hits northern Chile

SANTIAGO, June 26 (Xinhua) -- A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit northern
Chile on Saturday, with no casualties or damage reported so far.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake, which struck at 3:01 p.m.
local time (1101 GMT), was centered some 130 km southeast of the
northern Chilean city of Arica at a depth of 80 km.
Earthquakes are common in Chile. A massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit
southern Chile on Feb. 27, killing at least 500 people and affecting
some 800,000 others.
