WARSAW, Poland -- Police say 200 people have frozen to death in
Poland this winter.
Most victims were either homeless or under the influence of
alcohol.
Poland has faced a severe cold spell in recent days, with
temperatures dropping to minus 15 Celsius (5 Fahrenheit) in Warsaw
at night and to minus 20 Celsius (minus 4 Fahrenheit) in
Bialystok, a city in the northeast.
Police said on their website Wednesday that 29 people have died
from the cold in February alone, raising the total to 200 since
the first cold spell struck in November.
