POLICE are looking for a man who allegedly attacked four people,
including a 15-year-old girl, with a machete in Paterson, New
Jersey today.
The attack began this morning after Raul Suruy, 40, was discovered
hiding with a machete in his ex-girlfriend's closet by her
11-year-old son, police told The Record.
The ex-girlfriend, Yolanda Rivera, 33, was not home when the
attack started.
When Suruy was discovered, he went on a rampage - first attacking
Ms Rivera's15-year-old daughter and slashing at her head and
hands, police told The Record.
He then attacked Enrique Santiago, 20, cutting his arms and head,
the paper reported.
As Suruy attacked Mr Santiago, the 11-year-old jumped onto Suruy
in an attempt to stop him.
Suruy then went into the kitchen, where he started a small fire,
police told the paper.
When Ms Rivera returned home with Ricardo Diaz, 28, Suruy slashed
Ms Rivera and broke her left arm. He also cut Mr Diaz's neck area,
head and hands before fleeing, the paper said.
The four wounded by Suruy were taken to a nearby hospital. Mr
Santiago and the 15-year-old have since been released, the paper
said, while Ms Rivera and Mr Diaz remain in stable condition.
Police told The Record that Suruy remains at large and that
warrants will be issued on charges of attempted murder, aggravated
arson and weapon offences.
