Strong Earthquake Hits the Solomon Islands *

The Indonesian Meteorological Agency announced that a strong earthquake
hit the area of the Solomon Islands Tanembar located in eastern
Indonesia on Saturday, but there was no warning of tsunami tidal waves
or immediate reports of damage. The quake had a magnitude of six based
on the Richter scale with its epicenter located 270 kilometers
north-west Saomlaki Tanembar Islands at a depth of 56 km below sea level.

It is worth mentioning that five complete years have passed on tsunami
which occurred after a powerful earthquake hit the area of the island of
Sumatra in 2004. These massive waves killed near 250,000 people in 13
countries.
