Dear All,

Gaia space mission has stopped its scientific operation on Jan 15th 2025. It is now undergoing some technical tests before it is ejected from its orbit and gone forever.

In days 22 Jan until 31 Jan, Gaia will change its orientation towards the Sun and will become bright enough to be observed! It is the last chance to observe Gaia itself ever!

The details are listed here:

Finding charts are available here:

Please let us know if you manage to observe our favourite space mission!

Clear skies!
Lukasz

PS. Note that BHTOM is not yet capable of processing the data for moving objects, but we are working on it, so please keep your data safe for later!

Truly the end of a great era!  Thank you Gaia!

Dear Lukasz, all,

we are setting REM to observe Gaia since yesterday, following the orientation of its solar panels.
I will let you know what we will be able to collect.

No more Gaia alerts? ooh...

Dear All,

Success! Gaia has been spotted by small telescopes!

Videos from School Observatory in Sulkowice-Bolecina, 40cm telescope in the Southern Poland:

Video from UZPW, Chile, 50cm telescope of University of Zielona Gora, Poland.

Does anyone else want to share their observations?

Clear skies!
Lukasz
